John Sculley was popularly known for his quote:
“People who take risks are the people you’ll lose against.” – John Sculley
Five days after leaving Apple, Sculley became the CEO of another technology company, Spectrum Information Technologies. The firm worked on wireless technology — something Sculley believed would be the future. He wasn’t wrong!
Les Brown once said:
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars.” – Les Brown
Seneca also reminds us:
“It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that things are difficult.”
You will never tap the talents buried inside you until you attempt the impossible. Risk is part of every success plan. As someone once said, “Mediocre minds usually dismiss anything that reaches beyond their own understanding.”
Look forward to exercising your risk muscle. The more you dare, the more you grow.
Robert Schuller states:
“The only people who fail are those who set their standards so low, who keep the bar at such a safe level, that they never run the risk of failure.”
A great ship always asks for deep waters. When you dare for nothing, you hope for nothing. Progress, without question, always involves risk.
And never forget: anytime you procrastinate, you are quietly exercising a form of fear.
Fear of failure.
Fear of judgment.
Fear of your own greatness.
As Mark Twain beautifully said:
“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.”
And Paulo Coelho reminds us:
“Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.”
So step forward. Step boldly. Step with faith — because the world only rewards those who dare.
